Dude Style

The other day when I was in our backyard taking some pictures of our garden progress I also took some photos of my husband.  We both busted a pair of jeans last week, so we went shopping for new pants, and Aaron got a fun pair of burgundy Levi's 501 from Macy's.  He looks really cute in his new pants!

Aaron received a nice warm peacoat from L.L. Bean as a Christmas present from his parents this year.  It's nice seeing him in a smart looking coat.  He's been enjoying wearing it too.  I don't think he knew how good having a fancy winter coat can make you feel.  I totally believe wearing a nice winter coat makes you feel less like a schlep in the middle of winter, which can be a real feat.

Have a great night, chris!

Farmer's Market and ModCloth

This is what I wore today.  I've been pretty much living in this outfit 24/7.  I love how it's comfortable, yet I still look stylish, and not like some schlep bumming around all day.  Let's be honest during this time of year that's all I want to do.  Sit on the couch, curl up to a good book, and a warm cup of coffee.  Though while we're being honest, replace the good book with a terrible TV series.  I've been getting into Pretty Little Liars.  That show is insanely addictive.  I want to cram as many episodes as humanly possible into one day.  Who's A?! And who killed Allison?!?  What's Jenna hiding?!!?  I'm only on episode 6 of season 2, so no spoilers, please.

Scarf -- ModCloth
Jacket --  Target
Shear Plaid Top -- ModCloth
Tank Top -- Target
Jeans -- Levi's from Kohl's
Boots --  Farmer's Market

I realized as I was typing up where I got everything, that saying I got the boots from a farmer's market sounds ludicrous.  Though I honestly did.  Yay for Amish people!  Well the people that own the shoe store aren't Amish, but the shoe store is in a predominantly Amish farmer's market that's only open on Fridays and Saturdays.  It's called Booth's Corner.  It's been around forever, and it is a fantastic little treasure trove.  It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside you can find all sorts of delightful goodies.  I forget how much these boots cost, but I'm fairly certain they were less then forty bucks.  I love sneakers, so I don't wear these much.  I mostly own them for wet wintery days, and cause everyone needs a knee high black boot.

My mom gave me the scarf for Christmas.  I was so happy to see that she did, cause I noticed a few days ago that this scarf went out of stock on ModCloth.  I knew my mom had bought me something from them before Christmas Day, because I spied one of their boxes stashed away at their house.  Of course I didn't know what she had gotten, and I was worried I might have missed out on getting this scarf.  A pretty scarf is essential for keeping warm during the winter months.  I love nuzzling my face into a good scarf.

Well I have some friends coming over later on, and I was going to make some cheese dip, so I better get on that!  Have a great Saturday, chris!

Christmas Tree Shopping

I had the day off on Thursday, so Aaron and I took that time to buy our Christmas Tree.  We thought it would be a good idea to do it during the week to beat the weekend crowds.  It was a great decision, there weren't too many people there, and we didn't waste any time waiting inline.  Which also meant there weren't tons of people everywhere, so it was easy to snap a few photos, and I only felt awkward about it once.  At one point we took a break from checking out the trees to photograph the experience (and my outfit), and then mid-photo this nice guy came over to check if we needed help, and that made me super uncomfortable.  I didn't want him to think we just came to take pictures, and not actually buy anything.

This is where we got our Christmas tree from, Linvilla Orchards.  We could have cut our own, but we were feeling lazy, so we just picked from the precut trees.  Though, while we were checking out the cashier said the precut trees were a little better looking then the cut-your-own trees this year.  Which made me feel better about being a bit of a slacker.  I love their giant poinsettia made of red cloth and wire.  DIY inspiring!

I usually always make the hubby pose for a photo for me, before I hand the camera off to him.  I don't always show the pictures, but he's got such a cute smile, I had to share.

The jacket is Aaron's early Christmas present to me.  I absolutely love it.  When I tried it on I knew I would be going home with it.  It fits so well, like it was tailored just for me.  The rest of the outfit is my go to look for this season.  A plaid flannel, and jeans just scream fall/early winter.  I have a rather long torso so I always pair my tops with a long tank top, and I enjoy playing with the combo of colors together.  I love a good pair of jeans, and this is the pair I measure all other jeans against.  I bought them from the Levi's store in Manhattan on our honeymoon.  They are from their Bold Curves line, which is so perfect for my body shape.  I usually have a problem with jeans having too much material in the waist, and then the back always gaps open, but that is not a problem with this pair.

Jacket--  Land's End from Sears
Flannel Top--  Delia's
Tank Top--  Target
Jeans--  Levi's
Shoes--  DSW
Belt--  Target
Sunglasses--  Flea Market in Los Angeles

Hope ya'll are having a great weekend.  I spent today getting the rest of our Christmas decorations up, including dressing our freshly bought Christmas tree.  I plan on sharing photos of all the fun festivities tomorrow.  Happy DIYing, chris!

Packing Outfit

So busy with packing!  Most of the little stuff is over at our house now.  Tomorrow we are going to rent a Uhaul and move all the big stuff, like the bed and dressers, and couch.  Tonight I'm trying to pack some of the final stuff.
Jeans -- Urban Outfitters Levi's
Cardigan -- Forever21
Top -- Kohl's
Tank Top -- Old Navy (bleach dip dyed)

I pretty much wear this pair of jeans every weekend.  They are so comfy.  Yet I don't feel like a bum in them, which is something comfy clothing tends to do.  In the fall I am almost always wearing a light cardigan.  Right now this one if my favorite, because I love the print on it.  I'd love some cardigans to compete with my love for this one.

Well I should think more about how this whole move is going to go down tomorrow.  Have a lovely night, happy DIYing, chris!

Casual Fall Day

Jacket --  Heritage 1981
Top -- Target
Jeans --  Levi's at Urban Outfitters
Sneakers -- Converse Chuck Taylors

This outfit is perfect for a laid back fall day.  I love this pair of jeans, I wish I had twenty pairs of them, so I wouldn't run out of them ever.

My favorite part about these jeans is the cute hem going down the back of the jeans.  The fit so well, and I feel attractive in them too.  Who doesn't want that from a pair of jeans?

I also love these shoes.  They are lined with lambs wool, and I love the color.  I've had these since 2003, but I try not to wear them too often, because I don't want to ever have to throw them away.

This outfit is all around comfortable and stylish.  The jacket is made of cotton jersey, but it's thick, and lined so it's extra warm.  I love the subtle sailor vibe to it.

I hope you're having a great saturday, happy DIYing, chris!

Happy Easter Bunday!

Happy Easter Bunday!  If you don't celebrate Easter, then Happy Bunday Sunday, and whatever holiday you may or may not celebrate! :)

Let's pretend this is what we wore today.  I wore this outfit earlier in the week, and Aaron wore the bottom half of his outfit today.  They would have been brilliant Easter outfits!
Aaron's                                                        Mine
top:: cowboy store in Idyllwild, CA                      sweater:: H&M
jeans:: Levi's 514s from Urban Outfitters             dress:: H&M
shoes:: DC                                                            slip:: vintage from London
bunnies:: Pier1                                                     tights:: Target
boots:: cowboy store in Cowtown, NJ
                                                                             hair pins:: Handle & Spout

I kind of have crazy eyes in this photo, and my neck is at a weird angle.  We had a couple better ones, but the sun had moved to make some terrible bright spots.  I love these sunny days, and they make me think it's a great day for photos, but it's so hard to deal with all that bright sunny contrast!!!  I need to get better at photographing in the sun.

This was Aaron's idea.  Isn't he cute?  After taking the photos he told me he had fun, and that it actually made him feel good about himself.  I think we might do more couple photos.  If it does good things for both of our self-esteem, it can't be a bad thing!  I think most normal people need a little self-esteem boost from time to time.  It's important to be happy with who you are, and what you look like!

I love my cowboy boots but I rarely wear them.  I only own flats, and even though these don't have much of a heel I feel so silly clomping around in them.  It's  not easy to be sneaky with clunky heels on!  I even wore flats on our wedding day, even though Aaron is a whole foot taller than me!

Hope ya'll had a great weekend, happy DIYing, chris!

Saturday Blogger Love

I've been working at this for over two hours now, and I just can't figure it out.  I want to make a collage of the photos my husband helped take of me today, but I just can't get it to work the way I'd like.  I tried it on photovisi, but most of their templates require the photo to be cropped square, which would cut off my head or feet in most of these pics.  I don't own photoshop, plus that seems like more work than I was planning for.  I suppose gimp can do these things, but I have no clue how.  I attempted using picnik, but I couldn't find a collage template that I liked all that easily.  Plus they are closing down in April, because they are joining forces with google.  I've heard picasa is great for this, but I'm not a fan of it being connected to the internet and google chrome.  Don't get me wrong I love google & chrome, but I don't want every photo I put on picasa to be on the internet or even accessible by google the company.   They already monitor so much of what I do on my computer they don't need to have control over my photos too!

However, I did manage to make an awesome banner, and revamp the whole look on my blog today!

Here are the photos we took, sorry they aren't as awesome as I was planning on making them.  I need to improve on my computer skills, and I need to help my husband improve his photography skills.  I was inspired by A Beautiful Mess to do some outfit pics for Saturday's Blogger Love.   I also saw some super inspiring outfit photos here and here.

This was actually yesterday.  Aaron took this when I got home from work, and I took down our Valentine's Day decorations.

We took this set of photos at a local state park.  They have some lovely historical buildings on the grounds at Bellevue State Park in Delaware.
I love to wear jeans!  I hardly ever see any cute outfit photos in blog land that are jean-centric.  Here I am wearing sunglasses from H&M, the coat is form Urban Outfitters, the top is by Lauren Conrad I picked it up at Kohl's last spring, the jeans are Levi's, and the sneaker's are by Rocket Dog.  The bag I got in London, and I'm not really sure where.  I also have a little sweater on from TJ Max, and a pink tank top on from H&M.  Oh, and I have no clue where I got that headband.

Now you can see the cute little TJ Max cropped sweater.  My necklace is a combination of two gifts, the chain was a gift from my mother in law, and the glass piece my cousin Kara made for me.

Who doesn't like a good jumping photo?  Oh, and I've changed my shoes  to cute little flats that match my top.  I also got these in London, and I don't know where.

Can you believe it's February?

I had to check out that hole in the wall, there was a strong smell of mothballs waft out at me.  Lots of old furniture in there, if I were a squirrel I would totally go play in there!

AND this is our lovely photographer, my husband Aaron.  He didn't do bad for his first try!  I was nervous about doing this, and how it would turn out, but I can't wait to do this again!

One more fun photo before we go ...

I finished my day off with the kitten ordering our seeds from Baker's Creek.  Their seed catalogue is has the prettiest veggie photos I've ever seen.  It's porn for a gardner. We ordered Chantenay Red Core Carrots, Lunar White Carrots, Tom Thumb Lettuce, Hairy Vetch, and Five Color Silver Beet Chard.  We've never tried any of these, and we are extra excited to get them started!

Hope you all enjoyed, happy DIYing!  chris
