Pineapple Whiskey Bottom

Happy Turkey Day and Thirsty Thursday!  Today I have an unusually tasty cocktail for ya'll, a Pineapple Whiskey Bottom.

Ingredients:
- a shot of Whiskey or Bourbon
- a splash of Simple Syrup
- 1/4 cup Pineapple Juice
- 2 maraschino cherries, plus a little juice
- Club Soda

Directions:
Using a tall glass pour in the whiskey, syrup, and pineapple juice.  Add the desired amount of ice, and add the maraschino cherries with a teensy bit of juice from the jar.  Fill the glass with club soda, stir and enjoy.

I know this might sound like a strange combination to some, but it's absolutely delicious.  I made my hubby taste it, and he has a much lower tolerance for weird drinks than me, and he even said it was yummy.  The pineapple complements the whiskey perfectly.  I do suggest using a high quality alcohol though.  I'm not so sure this would taste so great with say Old Granddad.

Hope ya'll are enjoying your holiday, and happy Thirsty Thursday!

A New Tequila Sunrise

Ingredients:
- a shot of white tequila
- pineapple chunks
- pineapple juice
- grenadine
- a maraschino cherry

Directions:
Pour the tequila into a glass, and muddle about five pineapple chunks into the bottom of the glass.  Fill the glass 2/3 of the way full of pineapple juice.  Drop a few ice cubes into the glass, and carefully pour grenadine down the sides of the glass.

Sandwich a maraschino cherry between two pineapple chunks on a toothpick for garnish, and enjoy!

The classic Tequila Sunrise uses orange juice instead of pineapple juice, but since I had pineapple juice in the house and not orange juice I thought I'd give this a go.  The pineapple flavor complements the tequila perfectly, and the grenadine cuts the tartness of the pineapple.  Another great end of summer drink.  Have a lovely thirsty thursday, and happy DIYing, chris!

End of Summer Drink

Ingredients:
- 1 shot of white rum
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 5 fresh mint leaves
- apple juice

Directions:
Pour the rum and pineapple juice into a glass.  Smash the mint leaves into the bottom of the glass.  Fill the glass with ice, and pour apple juice over the ice.  Stir and enjoy.

This drink is a great summery drink, and the rum is barely noticeable, so I bet this would be terrific without the rum too.  I love a good drink mix that can double for people who drink, and those who don't.  Though I suppose it could be dangerous with kids around.  They might think mommy's drink is the same, and get a bit loopy.  Anyway great drink, and I love how it looks like a summer ale.  The mint adds a nice subtle hint of freshness.

Today was our kick-off luncheon for the fall season at work.  Which means from here on until the holidays I'll be busy busy busy.  Aaron and I are going on a little date night out to a local brewery restaurant.  It's over in Downington, Pennsylvania, called Victory Brewery.  We've never been, but Aaron enjoys their beers, and I've heard good things from a couple I work with.  We are excited to check it out!  Hope ya'll have some fun weekend plans, and happy DIYing, chris!
