Photo An Hour #3 (( Part 2 ))

Hi ya!  Happy Thursday!  I'm back again with the second half of my third Photo an Hour from June tenth with my macro lens.

1:30pm - 2:30pm
A little overlap from where I left off yesterday, hanging out in the back yard.  Moose joined me, and I caught some super cute close-ups of his adorable nose and ears.  I can't get enough of his handsomeness.

2:30pm - 3:30pm
As the sun started lowering toward the horizon more mosquitoes where lurking around.  This one didn't survive the battle.

3:30pm - 4:30pm
My latest DIY that I finished recently.  Photos and a tutorial to follow in the future.

5:30pm - 6:30pm
I took Aaron outback to take some outfit pics, and of course i had to snap a few of my own.  This t-shirt is perfect for Aaron.  I always smile when I see him wearing it.

This was the first thing that caught my eye when we walked outback.  I love the way the sunlight is making the lush green leaves glow.

This lovely lily was growing in a bunch of weeds around this cinderblock.  So lovely.

I loved the color of my sweater against the green.  Makes me think of watermelon, mmm.

That's where I ended my photos for the day.  Of course I didn't go to sleep at six thirty, but as the sun lowered to the horizon, the more buggy it got, and the less I wanted to hang out in the sun taking pictures.  Plus by this point I had tons of photos, so I thought I reached my goal for the day.  I enjoy Photo An Hour days, because it really has me thinking outside of the box to push myself to get creative beautiful photos.  I'm always excited to upload my photos, and share them with ya'll.  Hope you enjoyed, and happy DIYing, chris!

Photo An Hour #3

I did a Photo An Hour with my macro lens on June tenth, and I have a ton of photos I love.  I went through them multiple times trying to narrow down my selection, and even though I only photographed between six thirty in the morning and six thirty in the evening, I have nearly twenty photos!  I don't want to inundate you, and slow down everyone's computers more than I already do, so I'm going to break this into two posts.  :) Enjoy!

6:30am - 7:30am
Everything is going to flower in the garden right now, and I'm sad it's the end of the broccoli and lettuce/spinach.  Though, the flowers are lovely.  So we let them keep growing, even though we probably should have pulled them, and planted something else by now.  Oh, right, what was I doing in the garden this early?  Letting Moose out.  That's the second thing I do every morning, right after I put in my contacts.

7:30am - 8:30am
Speaking of Moose.  What a silly dog this little man is.  He doesn't leave the back door if I don't go outside with him, and he needs to go on two walks a day.  If I delay his walk at all, he bounces everywhere at home AND on the walk!!!  He's so darn excitable, and cute!  I can't get enough of him.  He's always good for a laugh.

8:30am - 9:30am
While on our walk I spotted two awesome fungi!  I never noticed seeing the Devil's Dip Stick around before, but a while back Kaylah on The Dainty Squid posted some photos, and I was enthralled.  I wanted to find one, and I just so happened to down the street from my house!  I don't normally walk with Moose and my camera, but I had to head back out with it to get both these awesome finds.  I love the colors in the conch mushroom.  Not a typical mushroom color for this area.

10:30am - 11:30am
Checking out my pocket contents on the back deck.  A doggie poo bag, some rocks, a button, and a penny.  If I see a button or penny on the ground, it will end up in my pocket.  I have a hard time resisting collecting a rock on every walk I go on.  I could probably fill a house with rocks, if I didn't curb my rock addiction.  Hehe.

11:30am - 12:30pm
Working on a DIY.  I was enjoying sitting out in the sunshine.  I have to smile watching the sun create dancing shadows over my handy craft.

12:30pm - 1:30pm
Salad for lunch.  We grew all the greens ourselves!  So tasty.  I also threw on some cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, chick peas, zucchini triangles, bacon bits, parmesan cheese, and blue cheese dressing.  When I was little my salads would mostly consist of chickpeas and tomatoes drenched in blue cheese dressing.  Well, I guess some things don't change.

1:30pm 2:30pm
Laying out in the backyard while working on my DIY.

This Is where I'll leave you for tonight.  Sorry this post is so late.  I kept putting it off, and half forgetting that I hadn't completed it yet.  Happy DIYing, chris.

Photo An Hour #2

This past Saturday I did another Photo an Hour.

7:30AM -- We woke up earlier, but I didn't get my fist photo off until the bed was made.  The painting above the bed is super creepy, and from my childhood.  I mostly keep it there to creep out my husband.
8:30AM -- Sitting drinking coffee, and checkin' my BlogLovin' list.
9:30AM -- Thinking of some DIYs for these guys.  I found the rock a while ago.  It has a natural hole through it, and I'd like to make a new necklace for it.  The white bow is a hair clip from ModCloth, and the lil' pink doggie is a pin I've had forever.  It went with a whole outfit I had as a kid, I have the faintest memory of it, and it envolved a black and white houndstooth skirt.
10:30 AM -- Checking out one of our lovely patches of Thyme.  It's blooming and beautiful.  :)  This is it's second year back.  I think it enjoyed the mild winter.
11:30AM -- My last paper pulp seed cups.  All the seedlings have been transplanted.  They did well in the paper cups.  They did best in my cabbage pulp cups.
12:30PM -- My current favorite shoes.  Converse makes them.  The thing I love most about these shoes is that they aren't identical. I wish I could buy more shoes like these.
1:30PM -- This tree stump knot has been drying out on a bench for a couple years in our backyard.  I think it's about time I planted something in it.  I love it's shape and texture.
2:30PM -- Procrastinating getting my blog entry done.  I spent some time looking at my rock collection.  This guy guards all my goodies.  I've been thinking of getting the rocks and their friends a new home.  We'll see ...
3:30PM -- Getting my blog work done, while watching TV, and keeping a snack by as motivation.  I like to reward myself for getting stuff done - with food.  Ya know like you do with dogs and kids?  :)
4:30PM -- Gathering my stuff together to go over to our friends' Kristen and James' house.  My sunglasses are either from Urban Outfitters, H and M, or Target.  I've purchased them at all three places.  Sometimes in this color,  sometimes in other colors.  This is my current favorite color.  I got my cell phone case at my favorite farmer's market.  I don't have an iPhone.  I have T-Mobile's  3G My Touch Slide.  The keyboard is essential.  I like the phone a like, I'm not looking forward to the day I have to replace it.
5:30PM -- Kristen and James' cute kitty.  Her name is Avie.  It's taken her a bit to warm up to Aaron and I visiting, but she's our buddy.  I'd like to get a younger kitty when we are ready.  Maybe one that likes to jump or get in water!
6:30PM -- James made Emeril's yummy Spicy Barbecued Shrimp Skewers.  I just ate dinner, but looking at these pics makes me want to eat again!  Mmmm, James is a great cook.  He served the shrimp with a cold bean and corn salad, which was awesome too.  I'm definitely stealing these recipes.
7:30PM -- Kristen mixed up this tasty Cherry Beer Margarita she found on Pinterest.  I generally go for whisky and cola, but this was delightful.  I have a soft spot for maraschino cherries, so this was right up my alley.
8:30PM -- Playing with Avie after dinner.  Kristen has another cat, but Lenore is very shy.  She usually hides the whole time we visit.   I always enjoy hanging out with Kristen and James.  I'm glad they are our friends.  We left their house around nine,  and went to bed shortly after we got home.  We aren't night owls, we're early risers.  I rarely sleep past seven AM.

Hope you enjoyed this Photo an Hour!  Happy DIYing, chris.

Photo an Hour

I've been seeing people doing a photo an hour for a day around the internet, and I thought that was a pretty great idea.  It's a fun exercise to get you in the practice of photographing the little stuff in life.  I decided to make this a little more of a challenge for myself, and finally switching my camera over to Manual Mode.  Another rule I made for myself was to only use the available light, no flash all day long.   I also pushed myself to use gimp to edit the photos together.  That way I didn't bombard ya'll with 15 individual photos.  Though I still used preview to add text, how terrible is that?!  I took these photos this past Sunday.

7AM- I love this little giraffe I keep my toothbrush in.  My husband has a lil' cow.
8AM- I was pretty pleased with this pic.  Makes me want a cup of coffee right now (even if it's almost 10PM)!
9AM- I wore a dress and little sweater from H&M, and my leggings are from American Apparel.  The duvet is from Ikea.
10AM- After reading Delightfully Tacky's post on using her self timer for self portraits I decided I *had* to get back into the habit of photographing myself.  This photo is my first attempt.

11AM- We needed to go to the mall to try to buy some new clothes.  I always make sure to give Cricket a snuggle before I go anywhere.
12PM- I talked about this on my post on Sunday.  I always have a terrible time finding black pants for work that are the correct length and width for my short legs.  I can't imagine these pants would look any good if I just had them hemmed.
1PM- My mom got me this camera bag for Christmas this past year.  It's from Jo Totes, beautifully made camera bags for stylish ladies.  The inside of my bag is padded, and black & white houndstooth!
2PM- I bought a cardigan and a pair of fingerless mitten gloves from Forever 21.  They were on sale, and I couldn't pass them up!  My husband got a pair of shorts from JcPenney.

3PM- Cricket begging for her dinner.  She eats at five.
4PM- Another attempt with the self timer.  I changed outfits too!   Now I'm wearing a sweater and tank top from H&M, and my jeans are from Urban Outfitters.  My shoes are converse slip-ons.  I love that you can see my mismatching socks in this pic.
5PM- This wacom tablet was a pain in the butt!  Turns out the pen was the problem, but I still can't get photoshop to work!  I must be tired too, because I just realized I add text to that photo that says 'wacom tablie'.  Opps!

6PM- All those wacom issues made me need to do some stretching.
7PM- I know this is a terrible thing, but I ate a WHOLE bowl of cereal AFTER dinner.  I guess there are worst things I could be eating at seven in the evening, like a double bacon cheeseburger!
8PM- Zoned out watching TV.  My PJ pants are from Target, my sweater was a gift from my husband's mum.  Melinda is a lovely lady, and I feel like I'm getting a big hug from her every time I wear this sweater.
9PM- I know I'm a wuss.  I feel asleep shortly after I took this pic.  If you can't tell I am sleeping with  a stuffed animal.  It's a soft bunny from Pier1 Imports.  My husband loves stuffed animals as much as I do, and it's kind of dangerous that he works at Pier1, because the stuffed animals are our favorite items there!

Well I hope ya'll enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed photographing them.  I'll definitely be doing a photo an hour again!  Not only is it a great way for me to work on my photography, but it's a great way for you (my readers) to get to know me better.  :)  Happy DIYing, chris!
