My Favorite Photos

Yesterday work asked me to help out in the office today, and I didn't have a DIY prepare for today. I really wanted to jump back into some hands on projects with both my feet today!   Hahaha, so silly!  Though, I need a day to plan and organize my supplies/materials.  I also need to clean and do laundry.  Anyway since I didn't have a chance to create any new images for today's post, here are some of my favorite photo I've taken over the past couple years.
Near Camp Pendleton, CA.  Road side pit stop.
 Lyndon, VT.  Our friend's bees.
Guggenheim Museum, NY.  On our honeymoon.
Jackson Square, New Orleans, LA.  Also on our honeymoon.
Northern Neck, VA.  Family vacation, this was outside our rental house.
Northern Neck, VA.  If you stand at the end of the pier in the previous photo, and looked to the left this is the view.  Gigantic birds nest on top of the gazebo.  The men seemed to think they were osprey.  I took TONS of photos of them, but none of them are my favorite. :(
Northern Neck, VA.  This is the view looking to the right.  This is the second time my family has vacationed in this home, and I love this part of the house the most.  Obviously, the view is part of the home, right?  I could spend every sunrise at the end of that pier.  Camera in hand.  Of course.
Oak Alley Plantation, Vacherie, LA.  300 year old trees!  Another Honeymoon pic.
Mississippi River, Vacherie, LA.  Across the street from Oak Alley Plantation.  Love those clouds!
French Quarter, New Orleans, LA.  I love the peeling paint, the colors, and the composition.
New Orleans, LA.  This was taken outside our hotel.  We stayed at the Renaissance New Orleans Pere marquette Hotel.  We really liked it, the room was giant, great service, and the lobby decor was modern swanky.
Another New Orleans photo.  This one was taken in a cemetery in the Garden District.  I love their cemeteries, but I've always had a fascination with cemeteries in general.
Chestertown, NY.  Taken while visiting friends.  I love blue skies and fluffy clouds.  When I lived in California I really missed dynamic clouds.

Okay, that's it for today, happy DIYing, chris.

What I Wore ...

On our mini staycation two weekends ago.

Dress -- H&M
Sweater -- T.J. Maxx
Tank-top -- H&M
Leggings -- American Apparel
Sandals -- DSW by Mix No. 6
Bag -- Jo Totes

I mentioned in Sunday's post that Aaron and I took some outfit pics on our mini staycation for our anniversary.  I'm wearing the same dress from this outfit post, but I've paired it with different layers.  I've also worn that sweater a ton, maybe a bit too much, as seen by my header ... I love layering!  Aaron makes fun of me for how many layers I usually have on, but I love mixing colors and textures!  The color and pattern of this dress is so girlie and cute, but it's super low cut, and short in the skirt, so I'm always pairing it with things to cover myself up.  This pair of leggings and tank top match perfectly, and there are bits of this color in the dress' flowers.  American Apparel calls this color Evergreen, I would normally think of evergreen as a darker color with less blue.  I'd call this color dark teal or aquamarine.  Whatever color this is, I love it!

I wear my hair down all the time, but sometimes I like big curls in my hair.  I'm not one to spend too much time on my hair, so this is how I achieve that look.  I put my hair up in a messy bun while it's slightly damp.  To make it cute for our little anniversary date, I wrapped a vintage cloth belt around the bun.  I've kept this belt since I was a kid to use solely as a hair accessory.  I found it on a dress in my grandparent's basement when I was probably about seven.  Not sure what happened to the dress, cause it didn't fit me at the time I didn't pay it much attention.

This bag from Jo Totes is amazing.  I can't rave about how awesome it is enough.  I love these leggings too.  I got them more then six years ago, and they've held up well.  The little white buttons are just perfectly adorable.  I'm not a foot person, and I generally like to keep my toes covered, but I couldn't resist the flowers on these sandals.  Plus strappy grecian or gladiator style sandals are my favorite.

Yay for jumping, the beach, mini staycations, Aaron, nice weather, and the ocean!  Happy DIYing, and have a great tuesday, chris.

Our Honeymoon Part One

Last year at this time Aaron and I were walking around Central Park in New York City on our honeymoon.  After our wedding on Saturday (April 16th 2011) we took a train up to NYC, and stayed there for a couple days before flying to New Orleans.

Everything was just starting to bloom.  Spring was in the air, and though it was a little chilly last year we enjoyed every minute.  This year has been unseasonable warm, and almost all the cherry blossoms and tulips are done blooming here.  Last year they had just started!

There was a fancy milkshake truck parked near here, and we sat on the steps to The Metropolitan Museum of Art slurping up our tasty treats.  It was soooo cold eating them, but they were so yummy we shivered through it.

We looked around the Guggenheim.  They had a Kandinsky exhibit going on, and I couldn't have been more pleased.  I love his work.  I find his abstract paintings beyond inspirational.  It's funny that he happened to be on display that day, because I had used stamps with a panting of his for my wedding.  I also was using a Kandinsky calendar for 2011!

I love this photo of Aaron.  He looks so happy, and it couldn't be more fitting.  He majored in history, and has a knack for remembering historical facts.

Of course I had to get a shot of the classic Flatiron building.  It wouldn't of been a trip to NYC if I skipped it!  Too bad it was so overcast and rainy while we were there.  I didn't take half as many photos as I would've been inspired to, had there been sunshine.

We took a ton in New Orleans, and  had an even better time there!  I'll be sharing those photos with ya'll tomorrow.  Until then happy DIYing, chris!

Spring has Sprung!

Aaron and I went for a walk today.  We couldn't pass up another one of these beautiful days without spending some time in the sunshine together.  It was a pretty short walk though, because I kept stopping to take pictures.
This is what the woods around us looks like.  It's beautiful even in the winter.  I love the big rocks everywhere.  When we lived out in California (where the hubby's from), I missed these forests everyday.

Aaron posed while I worked on the camera settings for him to take some pics of me.  Aaron has the opposite problem with pant buying from me.  His pants and long sleeved shirts tend to be too short.  He's a tall dude at six foot four.
He took this photo.  Spring has sprung!

I love to take close up pics of rocks.  I could fill a computer with just images of rocks.

We parked right next to this horse farm.  I used to live two doors down from this place from thirteen to seventeen.

So many flowers out right now!  I'm okay that our winter was light this year, because it was ridiculous the year before.

I also worked on my owl patch today.  I had to remove the elbow patch from the one arm and reattach it, because I had let it slide off place while sewing it.  I'm kind of glad I did though cause I decided to add another layer of the body felt for some extra strength.  The placement seems to be much better now too.  I think starting on the bottom instead of the top helped too.  Well I want to get back to sewing those guys on.  I'll catch ya'll later, happy DIYing, chris!
